I’d really like to have another technique up my sleeve. This would be a great addition to my collection of sewing book. Marvelous book for advanced sewing; however, discussion and illustrations of techniques could be more detailed. Hy hairdresser is new to sewing and really appreciates my “lending library”. Everyone seems to have an excellent comment, but I’m a newbie to sewing.
This is the type of sewing that I want to accomplish. Shortcuts often look sloppy yb me. Fitting garments to a person for that professional look has always been a challenge for me. I would like to learn more decorative embellishments! I would love to learn how to put in beautiful jacket linings.
Always wanted to know how to sew couture style. I think i would be most interested in the fitting aspect and the closures as those are areas that I feel that i could improve the most at the moment there will always be something to improve on really This book would be beneficial for that: She is known in the industry as a “fit specialist”.
I’ve been looking forward to Claire Schaeffer’s new book. The new photos show more clothes and even better view of details than the first book. Claire Shaeffer clearly describes and often demonstrates couture techniques using lots of color photographs and well-written descriptions. I get thrilled and excited when I discover those new techniques to create better designs. In general, I would just like to improve my sewing on all levels.
I would love to learn more lining techniques for not-so-basic garments and also tricks to make perfect tailored pockets. I’m 80 years old and still learning. In my younger days, I fantasized about being a minion to a professional in a New York couturier house had anyone been willing. No one can unravel couture garment construction the way Schaeffer can, from the art of hand sewing to mastering edge finishes, from classic closures to shaping a garment for a perfect fit.

I do this because my husband’s neck size does not equate to the rest of his body structure. I’d like to learn more about finishing professional looking insides of garments. I’ve been the only person in my family who has a job for several years, and am working to build self employment so that if or when my job disappears, I have a fledgling business to fall back on.
I had lessons many years clair but it is time to take things to a higher standard. I know flannel gowns aren’t couture, but my Grandma sewed them like they were. I don’t know how to measure that area or where the seam should lie. This is coutrue first dress! My High School all years ever reunion just came and went.

This is a great book to accompany a library of sewing techniques, but it should absolutely not be your only book. Looking forward to more good, useful info!

There are jut certain techniques that are not taught in school and unless you work for a Haute Couturier, which I have not had the opportunity to do as of yet, there is no chance to learn or practice.
Sometimes I couuture want to get out of the box. I really felt a tinge of loss when it was time to return it. I recently retired and have picked up sewing again. I’m hoping that the addition of a book of this caliber would ease his fears and teach him valuable skills which would help both of us. It would be lovely to add this book to my library.
